I almost forgot I had a xanga. I'm sure everyone else has forgotten as well.  Thats alright.  I'll write anyway.

Man, weather here in Indiana has been crazy. It snowed like mad before Christmas and dooped us into thinking it was going to be another snow filled winter. Right around Christmas, our old friend, Winter, decided to do an about face and switch things up on us. We've been experiencing 40 and 50 degree temps ever since. We've had a few light snows that fell and stuck for about 12 hours, but other than that, sweatshirts, sweatshirts and more sweatshirts. It feels like I'm living in Tennessee. It's depressing as hell though. I can't stand it when it's mostly cloudy and dark and everything is dead and brown. I need color and sun. I'd rather have snow during winter 'cause with snow on the ground, there is at least another color than various shades of brown. Brown isn't necessarily my favorite color in the world, so to be surrounded by it all day every day depresses hell out of me. So the color white is a very appreciated site in the months of winter.

I also like snow because it reflects any amount of light that may exist. It helps offset the fact that there is no sun. And because of it's reflecting ability, it draws your eyes to it instead of the overwhelming amounts of drab, depressing browns that, not meaning to sound repetitive, exist all around.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the sun and the heat, sun tans and sweaty summer runs. Rolling the windows down and opening up the sun roof. It's also festival season. Got to love rolling into the craziness of a festival and spending the whole day out in the sun, wearing your sun glasses and playing shows out doors in the heat with the smell of the grill and of sunscreen all around. I can't wait. Hopefully this year we'll be doing festivals like Bonnaroo and SXSW festival.

Give me summer. GIVE ME SUMMER!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I love the snow.  There is nothing better than to step outside in the middle of the night while it's snowing.  Especially while it's snowing a lot.   The world seems to quiet itself.  People slow down and think only of staying warm.  We bundle up and talk more. The TV's turn off and books come out.  Our world gets smaller if for only a day or two out of necessity.  That is until the plows come through and dig us out  making out world bigger again.

I love the snow.  Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Conservative leaders in Congress are proposing "to slash food programs for the poor by $574 million" this year.  The government spends nearly $200 million in Iraq every day.

Again I ask you, where are our priorities??????????

I promise that I'm not going to make this a political blog.  I really do, but you got to hear this.  I'm going to keep it short.

FEMA made a deal with Carnival Cruise Lines to use 3 of their ships for six months for refugee housing for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina.  The contract was for the super deal of $236,000,000.  If you do the math, if all three ships are at capacity for the duration of the contract, we the tax payers are paying $1275 a week per person to stay aboard these ships.  If you where to look up the cost of going on a luxurious week long cruise aboard these same ships it would cost you $599. That price though includes entertainment and all the fuel it would take to travel over the hundreds of miles your trip would take you.  Our government could have sent refugees on an all expenses paid 6 month cruise and saved us tax payers more than half on that no-bid Carnival contract!

What makes this deal even worse is that all three of these ships are sitting on the Mississippi River more than half empty!  As of Sept. 28th there are approximately  1,800  people  aboard  the 3 ships  that at  capacity hold  7,700.

What a bargain!?

Go Colts!!!
